"The main purpose of this site is to promote the great X for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. They are to the West Coast what the Ramones were to the East Coast... Thanks."

NEWS FROM RON...

"The My Space page and web page are getting hits all the time. Both have mailing addresses and e-mail addresses of various RRHoF-related entities. Also, the Radio Locator link is there. I encourage everone to find their local (and other) radio station contact info at this site and let your local djs know that X is eligible for induction. Now is an especially good time to do so, since they are on tour. As far as internal RRHoF info is concerned...well, they operate under stict secrecy. I'd say X has an excellent shot at induction; their albums were all critical successes. It's just a matter of letting the nominators know X is eligible in RRHoF induction rules and reminding potential ballot-casters that X is a good as it gets in Rock & Roll. Potential ballot-casters can be previous nominees, industry people, critics, etc."

Mass E-mail Campaign for X Induction into RRHoF

A MySpace Friend interested in the X For Rock & Roll Hall of Fame campaign suggests that we have a mass e-mail campaign that would be date-specific, much like a political e-mail campaign. I think this a a great idea. We're going to figure out the most effective addresses to send these to, and hopefully we'll have something cool (and more- or-less standardized) to send out. In the meantime, continue to send your e-mails to the addresses listed below for Rolling Stone and Spin magazines, as well as postal mail to the RRHoF Foundation address in NYC and Jann Wenner at Wenner Media, also listed below.
Thanks. -Ron

Here's the address for Wenner Media LLC. Note it is in the same building as the RRHoF Foundation. Let Jann Wenner know you support X for induction.
Thanks. -Ron

Wenner & Marsh & the RRHoF

Ive found a couple of references that indicate Dave Marsh and Jann Wenner are the primary movers behind the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. If anybody has any info on how one can most effectively contact these gentlemen, please let me know. Thanks. -Ron

Here's a little pilot program for the RRHoF campaign. Spin Magazine's contact page is: http://www.spin.com/about/contact/ . You can e-mail their editorial staff from here. Rolling Stone can be reached at this e-mail address: letters@rollingstone.com . If everyone on this fan site writes one e-mail to each magazine, they'll know we're serious about getting our favorite band inducted into the Hall of Fame. Have at it.

A chick named Kristi sent this bit of info to my MySpace site:
"A friend and I were thinking of making some X postcards that people could print up and send to people about the RRHF, but the band
suggested encouraging people to buy the great postcards already developed by Michael Hyatt. I don't know if you think people might be
interested, but if you think they would be they can order them by visiting http://home.mindspring.com/~mhyatt2/fotopost/port/xtb/topmenu.htm."

They look cool. Check it out.

You can use the following newspaper search site to find the music/arts/entertainment contacts at various dailies around the world. http://www.nettizen.com/newspaper/

Some "Rock Historians" who may be involved in the RRHoF nomination process (or not - it's a "secret" process, after all):

Robert Christgau, Peter Guralnick, Jann Wenner, Jon Landau, Dave Marsh, James Dunn, Charles White III, Jim Dawson, David MCGee, Glenn Gass, Bobby Pinn, Chris Handyside, Marc Kirkeby.

Now, the trick is getting e-mails, postcards, and letters to them advocating on X's behalf...Ron

I've been getting into the websites of newspapers around the West Coast, most of which have the e-mail address of their music/arts/entertainment page editors and journalists. I'll slowly make my way east into different markets, advocating on behalf of X's induction into the RRHoF. I obviously encourage everybody here to do the same. Thanks. -Ron

X RRHoF Nomination strategy

I understand from people in the know that the nomination process for the Hall of Fame is secret, but it's safe to assume that industry execs and previous inductees are involved in the process. Somebody also wrote to the My Space site that journalists are involved in the process. Therefore, I am urging everybody to e-mail music journalists in every type of media outlet, as well as others in the industry, explaining why you think X should be inducted into the RRHoF. You can use Radio Locator to find the e-mail addresses of radio stations around the US and Canada. Thanks (and another special thanks to Julia and Troy). -Ron

Journalist in on nomination process...
Somebody tells me that journalists are involved in the Hall of Fame nomination process. This means we should contact music writers / critics at different newspapers and magazines (and all other media) and let them know why we think X is a great choice for induction into the RRHoF.

-Thanks. -R
